Megasquirt I v3.0 and toyota distributor/igniter
Hi

I need some advise on how to control my iginition using MSI v3.0 and standard igniter/distributor.

Let me say that electronics are NOT some thing I know a lot about so PLEASE do not use any slang or abreviations when answering - thanks.

If some one could draw a wiring diagram I would be thrilled Big Grin

Hey

If you check the Msmanual forums this has already been up to discussion and im sure you are able to find a wiring schematic there.

what you need is to get the trigger wheel inside the distributor wired up to the MS unit. That would solve your question.

Good luck.

Hi

No not the same. They (gon) used a VAST (AFM) igniter - mine is a ESA (MAP).
I have RPM signal to the MS from the VR sensor to "tach" input (using the VR-sensor circuit). NOT using the Igniter to condition the signal!

What I need is to know is which wire (color) is IGT, IGF and NE?

- Thanks, Niels

This is how I did it on the 4age for my KP61 I'm building right now running MS1. Have a bit to go before attempting startup yet, but can not see any reason why it should not work. MS should read it as a 12-1 crank VR setup.

Stock dizzy:

Dismantled it:

Ground down two opposite tooths (dont recall which ones, but can check if needed):

And remounted. Also removed second VR sensor to minimize chance for crosstalk, as it should not be needed for MS and batchfire.

Are you using dual VR input and both sensors in the dizzy?

it should work with the 12-1....
I tried with the MS I v2.2 and an LM1815 signal conditioner and I got RPM spikes at around 7000RPM that I couldn't get rid of. That's why I changed to the VAST igniter......
Maybe it will work better with the v3 signal conditioner instead of the LM1815.....

I'm pretty sure the 2.89 code clears up the VR signal spikes are higher rpms. There's a post giving details in the ms general forum. msefi.com

Mines set up with as above, but I'm having serious comm issues and my trigger +/- is giving me the shits, rejecting ignition events.
