YEAH!
Friday I got the last missing piece to complete the engine, Exedy stage 2 212mm: A few hours later, it all resulted in this: After a quick timing adjustment and the sucker started right up! Now I'll have to finish the car and drive a few break-in miles before I'll get the Haltech ECU mapped. Little vid for all you open trumpets lovers: http://monkeymagic86.wordpress.com |

impressive how quick you have done this 7AG !
Will you put it on dyno after mapping ? |

Project D Wrote:impressive how quick you have done this 7AG !Merci. It's about getting all the parts. Once you've got everything, it's just a question of hours/days to put it all together I will put it on a dyno for mapping. So I will have a dyno read out end of the month if everything works out OK Still think to get some bigger injectors (7MGE), the Smallport injectors might be a bit on the edge. On my current 4AGE 16V map I got injector times of 6.2ms wich is about 82% duty cycle. So if more fuel is required for the 7AGE, the injectors will reach their limit http://monkeymagic86.wordpress.com |

Looking forward to see that dyno (especialy torque)
Depending on your resources and how much more fuel you need it might be easier to just up the fuel pressure a little. AE86 ex-daily |

It's a little bit tricky to do that on turbo engine because it work on positive pressure (so when you air pressure rise the fuel presure rise also) but on NA engine it work with vaccum so 4bar is the maximum you will get |

So, let’s update on my engine build. Tuesday was dyno mapping day. Alarm rang at 5:30 in the morning, started the TomTom and off we went. Destination KWL Motorsport in Leverkusen/Germany. The only good thing of leaving early are empty roads and gorgeous lighting!
After 3 hours of exhaust, ITB and differential noises I eventually arrived. Changed the rear tires, setup the car on the dyno, connected O2 sensors, laptops,… KWL Motorsport is a kind of old school race prepping garage. They do a lot of old VWs, Kugelfischer injections,… So while letting the boss do his things to my fuel and ignition maps, I studied their race cars. Audi 50, VW Polo Derby and 2 Scriroccos A few hours, coffees and chats later I changed the rear wheels again and drove home. What a difference! Engine runs great, way more torque than before,… So, what everyone is waiting for, the results. 108kW / 147cv at the wheels Min 85% of torque from 3500 to 7500 RPM 127kW / 173 CV at the flywheel. Here they are, compared to my previous engines, the 4AGE and the 20V I killed early 2010 http://monkeymagic86.wordpress.com |
