Well, if you like that particular Corona then you might be interested in the other car that I've been working on while I'm figuring out how to get the Lime looking just right. I needed something to do with the leftover paint from the Gold Levin. Its actually much further along than the photo shows, the interior is nearly complete and the chassis is built. If anyone's interested, its an old Tamiya kit that a friend gave me many years ago. |

Nice Celica XX!
Are you also building that Beluga scooter? 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Sadly the MA60 was given to me because the kit has a few missing and broken components (the kit is ancient and has a 1981 copyright date on the box), so its unlikely I'll build the scooter or the driver. I also won't be motorizing it, but here's what those parts look like: I guess I'm updating both of these models now? Here's the Supra: Here's what I'm aiming for with the build: There's been plenty of work done to the Lime shell, but it doesn't show in photos so I won't bore anyone with it for now (its mostly been filling and sanding). Instead I'll explain the work done to the interior. The real car has a 2-spoke steering wheel, so I've gone through the spare parts I have and I found something similar: The front and rear seats are almost done, just a little more sanding to go. The rear headrests have been cut off and filled in, and the front seats have been cut down, then the headrest from a Fujimi kit was glued onto the top. The headrests were actually taken from the first 86 kit that I built many years ago, I gave up on the kit but I kept it just in case I needed spare parts. I've also got the interior door panels to (mostly) match but I'm not showing the photos yet because they look very untidy (there's a lot of knife marks to get rid of), but they're coming along. I also have an automatic gear lever to go in, so the interior is moving much faster than the exterior. |

Sorry for the double post, but I want to mention something about this build thread.
As much as I'm enjoying building the Lime (when I have time for it), I want to take a break from it for a little while and build a regular three door kit, as well as taking time to get some work done on the MA60. The Lime is looking pretty decent and surprisingly accurate, but its taking so long that sometimes I get tired of looking at it. Hopefully this thread is helpful to anyone who wants to build their own 2-door 86, but when I post photos of the shell at the end of the conversion I think people will be blown away by the insane amount of work necessary. Today I spent a long time installing the rear windscreen seal and grinding away a lot of material from the deck lid, now I'm waiting for a large amount of filler to dry. Hopefully I can create a full write up of the process in order to help others, but right now I want to complete another kit and then come back to the Lime build. I hope people like what they see so far. |

Wow that's some real effort you put into that interior! Nice touch on the two spoke steering wheel!
I know how frustrating it can be when you are busy on a tedious job. I've already drawn 11 blueprints for car mashups and I had to take breaks every now and then. It just gets on my nerves after a while. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Its been ages, but here's an update. The shape is correct now so I'm just doing final sanding and then making some tail lights. There also needs to be some more reinforcement to make sure it doesn't fall apart when I mold it, but having compared it to the reference photos I have it is now as accurate as I'm able to get it.
There probably won't be another update on this for a while as I'm now making some parts for another 1/24 build (which you guys will probably love when I reveal it). If anyone is making their own 2-door and wants advice then let me know. |

The shape and dimensions appear to be spot on!
One question though: as the tail lights are from a kouki, are you keeping those to make it a kouki Lime? There was a kouki Lime but it never made it to the brochures. I did post some pictures of one some time ago, so just wondering if you will be making it like that one? 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

It'll be a zenki Lime, but I'm building it as a kouki right now and moulding it with resin. Then when I cast the resin 2-door shells I can just fill in the gaps and have a zenki body.
I can't build a kouki Lime now because I already made most of the interior to match zenki, and all of my reference photos are of various zenki Limes. |

Just curious what the progress on the Levin Lime is. The reason why is because I ran into a blog post today where an Aoshima and Fujimi kit were cut up in a similar way to create this zenki Trueno XL Lissé:

That Lisse looks really cool.
Sorry I haven't been building more models and updating this thread lately. I've actually been serious about a career change and I've been getting some results on that front. When I'm a millionaire software dev with a real AE86 then maybe you'll see more models get built by me. |
