Some information for those who are about to restore their differential
Noticed something annoying today when I was bolting my diffhousing back together. Seems like "Toyota" has made some changes to the bolt locking plate for the crownwheel (41222-30030) and the bolts for the bearing cap (90101-12371).
The thing is that the locking plates has a higher bend to them coupled with the fact that the bolts now have a "built in washer" which increases the diameter of the bolthead by 2mm compared to the old ones. These 2 together will cause an interference if used unmodified. Solutions besides reusing your old stuff is either to hammer the lockingplates down a bit or file off 2mm from the bolthead. Not a huge problem but annoying and something that might be good to know before and if it arises. |
