Standard ECU Capabilities
What is the maximum capibility of the standard ECU?
272 8.1 Cams ? or 264? What about ITBs? & What about ITBs with cams? Should know all this but, its been a while since Ive been hands on. An 86 is for Life, not just for Christmas |

Standard ECU Capabilities
I tried the limits of the standard....
I think the standard ecu good for "healthy" 150 hp on crank. You can reach 160hp but with lean A/F ratio. So not too safety... My engine could do 134whp on dyno ~160 on crank but with ~14 AFR at WOT. The 272 cams with 8,1mm lift can work but too much for the standard ecu (idle and revving problems under 3000rpm). ITB's can work with standard ecu too, but it doesn't make a sense. If you want to go for bigger cams than 264 and want really power increase with ITB's you have to buy a stand alone engine management or build one . I was in the same situation, but I built my own MegaSquirt as apardal and gon recommended. http://ae86.blog.hu - closed 2006 Toyota Corolla Verso 2.2 D4-D 1992 JDM Nissan Silvia PS13 RB26DETT powered |
