TA60/TA62 Carina; what fits?
While i did some research i read a lot about AE86 parts being bolt on for the Carinas, but i now know for a fact that in a lot of cases that just isn't true
What does actually fit the carinas suspension and handling? Panhard rod, 4-link, knuckles, tie rods, anything you know! My Carina is the kind that doesn't have rack and pinion steering! |

What I found so far:
front shocks front springs There are no mounting points for the panhard rod on my Carina, so that won't fit unless you start welding those. I still haven't started on the bushings job, but from the other topic (aa60 coupe) I understood almost none will fit. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

If MA60 rca's fit, then the whole strut will go in, including the bigger brakes

Well, AE86 rear shocks/coilovers should have the same mounting points, you can also get GAZ 32 way adjustable Escort MK2 rear coilovers and bolt them in, and as has been mentioned, AE86 front struts and LCA`s, P/S steering arms, T3 Steering arms, Hey-Man steering arms, or shorten the OEM ones, whatever you want.
AE86 Camber plates (Cusco etc) probably too, if not then just grind, drill etc make it fit and get her done. AE86 Zenki LSD (Shorten halfshafts 6mm each), AE86 rear brakes if you modify dust covers with new bolt pattern and if that wont work then cut brake bracket from AE86 dust cover, weld it to the TA60 drum dust cover. AE86 4A-GE if you use AE86 bellhousing, clutch, clutch fork, TA40/AE86 slave cyl, build your own engine mounts (easy). AE86 MOMO/NARDI etc steering hubs. Another good mod is changing the driveshaft carrier unit, it will stop driveshaft from floffing about like a fox baiter in there, and the rear wheels to spin a bit more On my TA40 wagon I easily fitted AE86 Revolver coilover struts and camber plates, only had to drill a new hole for inner bolt for the camber plates and big washer, brake calipers were the other way around so simply swapped struts from each side, voilà . Easier bolt-on job than changing stuck tie-rods from those pesky allignment sleeves 1x AE86 84` Zenki Coupè Levin 4A-GE 20v 1x AE86 83' Zenki Coupe Levin 4A-GE 16v 1x TA60 82' Sedan 2T 8V 1x TA40 78` MK1 Zenk/Pre-Facelift Wagon 4A-GE 16v |

As you said: the camber plates only fit if you drill a new hole. It is easier to get the ones for the TE71 as those are bolt on.

Definitely do not change steering knuckles to anything else.
MA61 ones are longer anyway. But it messes with bump steer etc which is the main problem. Factory vented disc struts from a TA63 etc Celica are the best front struts to use. Banpei what is your rear suspension config, is yours IRS or leaf spring or something? My car uses an F series live axle from an MA40 celica GT. Bolts straight in to replace the T series 4 link + panhard unit with all mounting points the same. But the nose on the diff is longer so driveshaft changes required. AE86 castor arms will fit but not much else of AE86 stuff. You can still buy Cusco camber tops brand new for the Carina, I got some second hand from Japan. |

All TA60s in Europe got the live rear axle with coil springs, but no panhard. Basically the same thing as the AE86, but then with some difference in mounting points.

are you sure about the no panhard thing? I can't imagine an axle like that not needing a panhard

Yes you are right: it does have a panhard, but not the stabilizer.
