The oil will drain better if it is hot but be careful not to burn your
hands on it. I usually warm up the new oil by standing the bottle in boiling water for a few minutes, makes it a lot easier to fill. If you are using bottles with long plasic spouts on then you will need as much space above the diff. as possible so it is best to put the chassis on stands and let the axle drop as low as the dampers will allow.
