Would this work okay?
1.)
I have a MAP bluetop TVIS (bigport). Say i would buy a AFM Bluetop bigport - bottom end and head, and use my manifolds, my map sensor and my ecu on this AFM-based engine. Would this be plug and play - would this be the same now as my old engine?
All this under hypotessis that both engines have same compression ratio of 10:1.

2.)
What would happen if i did the same thing, but the pistons from the AFM-based engine were 9.4 comp-ratio. Could i Just as easily use my manifolds, my map sensor and my ecu and would this engine work with my ecu because of the lower comp-ratio, or would i loose serious power because the maps would be incorrect?

Please help, domo arigatogozaimasu!

AFAIK the bluetop has a compression ratio of 9.4 and only the smallport ae92 has 10, see also this diagram on club4ag:

You should probably also use your thermostat housing, clutch, flywheel etc..basically the std. FWD to RWD swap. Is all plug and play, engine will run fine, be it the higher or lower comp engine.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

banpei, thats the deal, we dont know if all bluetops are 9.4:1. And wee also dont know if all bluetops are 10:1. German bluetops (like mine) with MAP are 10:1 comp-ratio. so i would apreciate if somebody could tell for certoin, what sort of comp-ratio AFM bluetops are running (from the ae86).

NoHachi, i would not be swiching to a fed engine, but to another RWD - only difference it is AFM. So we dont know what sort of comp-ratio is thios AFM engine. Neither are we certoin that MAPS are 10:1.

So i just want to know, that the engine would preform good if it would happen to have lower comp-ratio. CAn the ECU adjust the maps? (as i mentioned i would use my MAP sensor, my ecu, manifolds etcetera.)

Sorry, didn't watch too properly. Wink
But I reconed it had the same compression ratio as the US version as stated in the Club4AG page. Perhaps better to sum up your other topic on the frontpage. Wink

This is getting just rediculous, and i wont believe nothing untill i see all of them engines opened up. Big Grin

So that aside, i just want to know, will an ECU w/ MAP wich was made for a 10:1 comp-ratio engine work just the same on the 9.4:1 engine? Are these two ecus the same?
