heshan, I'm going to make a general comment here in regards to
trouble shooting car problems... deal with one thing at a time.

You have to reduce the number of possibilities by eliminating them one
at a time. Checking and setting each adjustment to factory specifications
is a good place to start. In your case I would suggest you check that the
cam timing is correct, and then check the ignition timing. These are the
items most likely to cause a drop off in high rpm power and engine
back firing.

And I take it the back firing is occurring in the exhaust ??

Fuel cut on overrun is normal and should be barely noticeable. Once the
engine is up to temperature, it should be the same every time you coast
with your foot off the gas. Fiddling with the TPS can upset the transition
from "on-throttle" to "idle" and cause the car to lurch when driving in slow
stop-go traffic. Far too many people fiddle with the TPS unnecessarily !!

Oh, and if you get a clunk when changing gears, it would be worth
checking the universal joints and the centre driveshaft bearing for loose
or excessive movement.
