no "check engine" light???
its late and my eyes arent working right for the search Confused

okay, i changed my duff fuel pump the other day for a walbro which all went to plan.
tonight i conked out, EFI relay was playing up a few weeks ago so i thought it was this. anyways fiddled with the relay and i eventually got all necessary dash lights on and got going.
on down the road, the dash lights flicked on for a second and went off again then went on and the car ground to a halt.
I turned the ignition key to on and all dash lights that come on when starting came on except the yellow "check engine" light.
so im thinking i have blown a fuse or something that is supplying the ecu and that is why my fuelling and ignition etc arent working.
I checked all the fuses(bonnet and beside accelerator) and all seem to be fine.
i guy i know tells me that the 30 A from the live battery terminal supplies the ecu and that it could be faulty. is this common? or should i be looking in another area.
im guessing that i cant do the engine diagnostics(shorting the plug) if the engine light does not come on at all.

You should have a look at the big fuses indeed.. they will burn out if somethings gone wrong around the ecu.
You might want to check your ecu grounds, and maybe the relay above the ecu (forgot what it's called).

So, after you recheck your battery ground and fuses (and their conection with those two bolts on each 30A and 80A) try to recheck your ECU ground...

In the manuals you have the exact procedure... find the right pins and turn the key on, try to ground it... E1 I believe with ground on the ECU conector...

You have one ECU relay in the engine bay, one up the fusebox by the drivers legs, and another where the ECU is...
Also, recheck your circut breaker... Take the glove compartment out, it's the big green relay...

Althou, relays drop dead verry rearly... check your fuses and conections first...

I bet my money it's a loose contact on the + on the batery... that 30A fuse is loosing conection... at least that what this sounds like to me... Wink

well i was checking the ecu last night and was getting a bit frustrated. a toyota mechanic came over and went straight to the efi relay.
even though it was clicking when being pushed in and out with the ignition on it was the fault Cool
we found this out by using the same relay which is in the kick panel interior fuses(just above them) swapping them round and the "check" light came on.
Car still didnt fire as i think the other realy is for the injectors.
a quick run to toyota today for a relay and we'll see what happens
