Well a dry track would have been a wonderful thing! But the rain is a good place to test your handling to see if the car has any bad habits.
The tire width was probably too much for these conditions but overall it handled very well on a very slippery and cold track . It sounds a bit quieter now as well . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzQYTbVYlSc Here's the same track a couple of weeks earlier in my Rally car in the dry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3MrMkAdBLs Your addiction to motorsport can only be cured by poverty !! |

Wow! You must be really proud of your efforts. Haha, I'm proud and don't know you. Really top notch job with both building and racing such an amazing car. Now you just need to go and race it on some of the Japanese courses with the other N2 86's.

Hey thanks , just goes to prove if you stick at a project with a goal in mind it will be worth it in the end , even if it does take twice as long as you think it should , but don't compromise for the sake of finishing the car quicker .Also a bit of Kiwi can do helps ! Looking at the two youtube clips , I think I had the wrong car on the wrong day, I love pushing my rally car to it's limits in the wet! NZDMAE86 Wrote:Great vids, car looks to be pretty settled/gets good grip in the wet, cant wait to see this IRL Yeah grip was good for the conditions , I was using a Kuhmo V700 tire , 235 /45/13 rear and a 215/50/13 front and for the amount of water they worked very well ,I was a bit nervous using a tire that I had no idea how it would behave,my other choice was slicks ,and they were a no go in the rain. My Tarmac rally car runs a 205/50/15 Dunlop 03G .These work fantastic wet and dry . There is still a lot of work to do on the setup of spring rates and shock settings to fine tune for more speed. Driving in those conditions was perfect for learning any bad habits the car may have and to settle in behind the wheel. Any seat time is a good thing . My car is very twitchy in the wet, not 100% sure why tho? I only have 185 60 14 AO48's (rims are only 6" wide) they seem to be very good in the dry, just need to be wider in the rear, lacking a bit of lateral grip back there. I cant wait to get back on the track and play around with the suspension. Good luck with the set up and getting used to the car! |
