will the 0.5 mm HEADGASKET clear?
Hi,
do the valves interfere with pistons when the 0.5 mm headgasket is used? (in case of belt snaping)? -stock bluetop 4ag |

i mean when the piston is in top dead position and the valves at full lift. will it clear? a non interferance engine is a good insurace. just in case..

Even with the stock gasket they will interfere in such case.Just to make you feel better, there is a tiny chance (i would say there's no chance but you never know ) for the valves to remain opened if the belt fails...Keep in mind that there are valve springs and camshaft inertia that play role in the above equation!

with the standard engine, even if the belt brakes valves don't touch pistons, it's a non interference engine. with a small head gasket i don't know.
It's easy to try though !! install the head gasket , put the piston one in TDC and rotate both camshaft's independently, if they do 1 full turn both without touching anything u are still ok ( i would say that with the 0.8 gasket it's still ok , but with the 0.5 it might start to be an interference engine ( like 90% of the other engines on our roads)) |

will the 0.5 mm HEADGASKET clear?
I have wiseco pistons, decked the head 0,60mm, decked the block 0,1mm, have a 0,8mm head gasket and TODA 288/7.9mm camshafts. There's interference on the intake side only.
I would say, almost sure of it, that if you install a 0,5mm head gasket with the head at stock trim, you will still have a non interference 4A-GE. Best regards |
