Surely there must be a reason why oil supplyers make Limited Slip (LS) spec hypoid oils. I cant imagine toyota prescribing the use of this type of oil if it is not needed. From the info I could find a while ago the LS oil has additional friction modifiers in it that help reduce clutch-chatter and allow for smoother engaging clutches. You can buy the stuff in separate bottles and add them to your gear oil too.
The friction modifiers also help with breaking in new gearsets since they act like a light anti-wear additive. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |
