20v Starting Issues
Hi all,
I've recently had big issues with my AE86 20V swap not starting recently. Parked up overnight and just would not start in the morning. Running a lost spark ignition system with COP - Yaris coils. Giving intermittent pulse on spark timing. 1 spark every revolution at the wrong line. Firing from Intake trumpets. We have done: 1. Pulled fuel pump and cranked to clear fuel. No change, not running. 2. Checked spark strength, fine. No change. 3. Checked timing, off by 20'. Fixed, no change. 4. Changed ECU, no change. 5. Compression test, no major issues. Anything else I should check? Cheers, Matt |

Battery fully charged, starter is standard 4AGE 16V starter but still cranks it fine.
It was starting fine before, then just didn't any more :l |

Maybe it's the ignition switch starter.

UPDATE: Engine Loom redone, connections soldered and heatshrinked/taped (were previously wrapped and taped).
Cranked, had one backfire (through Exhaust this time) and then no spark or fuel afterwards. At my wits end at the moment. |

It seems to me that the spark is jumping out of time... :/
Keeping the AE86 alive! |

20v Starting Issues
Pulled the ECU, fried Diode. Hopefully able to fix. Theory is, the stronger connections have either pushed or pulled too much from the ECU compared to the bodge job that was on it before...
Going to a S-86 Dizi relocate, lose the problematic COP system for hopefully more reliable ignition. Having an auto electrician look over it today to identify any connections/shorts that are still suspect, something is sending excess voltage back to the ECU. Hopefully, once she is up and running again, she runs FAR better as the timing has been sorted and the loom is far better. Just water leaks to sort with the bodge job water kit and then de-power the rack (+ Rack bushes...they are SHOT). |

20v Starting Issues
Seems to have great reviews so is the way to go...much nicer than the belt driven one!!
Do not like that one at all. I'm waiting to have the dizi tested and a good check over, just so I know what I need to get from Sam Q. At the moment it stands at - Dizi Relocation Kit, Dizi Blanking Cap, Dizi Cap + Rotor. Unless anyone has a spare 20v Dizi cap and rotor kicking about |
