My 20v ITB installation
Ian, your running the std AE86 fuel rail. The 20v runs an internal fuel rail as they are side feed injectors that are in the inlet manifold and not situated in the head like on the 16v. It is possible that your fuel pressure has been turned up by squashing the regulator thats on the end of the fuel rail.
Best way to check the pressure is to mount a gauge where the cold start injector feed is on the fuel rail.
My grp A car only has 210cc injectors, but the pressure is more than standard and it makes 197ps

I ran the 20v throttle bodies on my old black car with the std ecu, it can be done.

If you need some help im not far away.

Jamey

Cheerrs for the help/advice Jamey.

Since starting the thread and understanding a little more about injector types from 4AGE motors (especially the difference between the 16v and 20v) I figured the rail was the std 16v unit once I'd found out the injectors were not 20v.

I must get a pressure gauge on there at some time. We did have one on our old hayabusa powered westi but I cant find it now.

When all this new stuff gets fitted onto the car I'd like to put it on the rollers and see what its making (I reckon maybe 150bhp ish at the flywheel). At the same time I'd also like to use a wide band 02 monitor so we can see how the fueling is doing. The biggest problem right now is not being able to work with the ECU.

Regards Ian.

My 20v ITB installation
Well,

today I made a difference to my hachi Smile

if you remember my ITBS looked like this behind those trumpets

So, after approx 1 hour of cleaning gasket sealant and some metal cleaner they looked like this.

I was at the autosport show yesterday and managed to pick up a set of pipercross C1050 trumpet socks direct from their stand at half the retail price. Thumbs up! This is what was waiting to be installed onto the car...

And after a bit of spannering...hmmmmmmm.... trumpets Yummie!

Gasket seal was cleaned up and the socks installed and zip tied into place.

What with getting the timing sorted and fitting these the car is pulling like a trooper - its really smoothed things out and it revs hard as you like again. I was so happy I decided to navigate an entire roundabout - sideways LOL.

Regards Ian.

Nice work..may I ask what that metal canister with all those rubber hoses coming out of it is for? Some kind off vacuum-reservoir maybe?

Ivan,

correct - its a vancuum canister - takes feeds from each throttle body - I haven't got a clue where they come from/go ?

Is it something to do with the brakes - I think some can be vacuum assisted ?

Some chevey engines make use of a vacumm can to aid the distributer ?

Ummmmm...I dunno.

Vacuum canister has hoses from each TB to the canister. There air gathers, so MAP sensor can read vacuum in the intake. Based on vacuum, tps, intake temperature and some else parameteres, ECU is calcualting fuel volume.

Drifting - best fun you can have in your car with your pants on!
