Use oil with mos2 ? in 4A-GE engine
It is a difficult question but i would like if anyone have some experience with those oils propably most known oils of 2 brands who are using mos2 are this 2 types:
Liqui Moly Leichtlauf 10W40 MoS2 FUCHS TITAN Syn MC 10W-40 I readed a lot of boards but can't find a true if there is problem to use this oils or not. I am using in my ae86 currently castrol RS 10w60 fully synthetic because previous owner used it but the engine just got to 175 000km and i dont think it is good for the engine to have such type of an oil. My friend is using Valvoline Max Life 10w40 i am decided to go for Mobil Super S 10w40 which i am using in my other daily car. 85' AE86 GT coupe lifetime project since 2005 |

Use oil with mos2 ? in 4A-GE engine
Ryo,
Don't know those oils sorry. The problem with switching to synthetic or semi synthetic on an older engine is related to the better quality of the oils. They are thinner and usually have additives to dissolve any dirt that's in your engine. If you've ran the engine on mineral oils for a long time the thinner oil could result in clearance problems as the engine is fully run in on a thicker oil which could lead to oil leaks or worse. Also having all the dirt that's build up in the engine for years suddenly come loose could clog up important oil channels resulting to damage to your engine. Both off course are risks, frequent oil changes and good engine maintenance probably results in no problems when switching to better oils. If however the engine has been running on synth or semi synth for a long time it would probably be best to stick with it, they generally are better for the engine then mineral. I used Valvoline 10w40 for the longest time in my Hachi (not max life, not sure what it was called), but as far as I am aware, my Hachi never run on anything but mineral oils. Thanks for the answer Mux.
I think i will not try to use those special oils not too much info that can make me to decide i will run on semi synth oil because the engine have 175 000km it don't eat oil but i don't think that it is wise to use fully synt in the engine because in manual are that just say to use semi synth oil. Maybe a question little bit off topic: It is good to use synthetic transmission oil or not? I used to run with castrol synthetic on my first hachi and now i am considering on valvoline durablend 75w90 GL4 which is synthetic. For exception on LSD the valvoline is having HP GL5 LS oil which is mineral - that's interesting. 85' AE86 GT coupe lifetime project since 2005 |

Use oil with mos2 ? in 4A-GE engine
I've used LM molygen 5w50 in my 4a-ge and not only on this engine.
everything is great. I know one rally team here and they for a long times already used this oil in all their cars w/o any problems with engines. owau no ka "I" |

I'm using Liqui Moly Synthoil Race Tech GT1 10W60 + CERATEC ceramic additive. Great value for money.
