What engine do I want in my AE86?
So to summarise:
+4 degrees ignition timing Auto MR2 ecu TRD Header Buddy club exhaust Slightly higher compression = +30whp !! Why didn't Toyota think of that instead of spending fortunes making the 20v ? TBH if your engine made 140 flywheel horsepower I would be surprised. Sorry 'bout that... TC An analogue brain in a digital World |

10 degrees more timing, the usdm cars run 10 degrees advance stock, the mr2 ecu was an "on accident" discovery. replaced the stock one due to issues with one from my sister's auto mr2 and the car ran a lot harder. and a full point jump in compression(9.4:1 vs. 10.4:1).

10 degrees with the timing connector jumped.
16 degrees with it disconnected and in normal running mode. An analogue brain in a digital World |

also my car made 127 wheel with the stock bluetop with the same ecu and TVIS deleted... I had a freak car as my best friend has the identical car with a rebuilt bluetop. He's as good a driver as I am and his car had identical mods, I would always walk on him in 3rd and 4th. My car has always pulled hard on the top end.
Sorry about the thread jack by the way! You know how it is, you put in your 2 cents when a question is asked and some @$$ has to negate everything you say and call you a liar... |

I'm hoping that the OP does not follow what you have done and then expect to get the same result. He won't FACT. An analogue brain in a digital World |

I agree, I've seen identical builds before result in massive hp differences. I was just recommending something that wasn't as expensive as a 20v(especially since he already has a redtop)...
I think you'd be happier with ITBS, a nice set of cams, and a decent tune. Rather than throwing a lot of money into a swap that doesn't make much more power than a nicely done 16v. Blacktop stock- +/-150 hp Blacktop modded- 165-185 hp Redtop stock- +/- 130 hp Redtop modded- 155-175hp I understand 10 hp may be a lot to some people, but I'll sacrifice 10 hp to save $1000.00 |

Yea you could get a V8, cummings diesel, top fuel dragster V8 or why not a experimental camshaftless koenigsegg engine?
If you want a Blacktop I think you should go for it. Just read up on the swap properly so you and the company don't get any too big unexpected troubles. Also if you go through with the engine swap I can take that Redtop of your hands |
