Ive done a bit of research into the toyota 4age engine but still not 100% on what engine I have. cant really get a good look at the side of the block to see if its 3 or 7 ribs on it.

hmmmmmm, can't really tell what block you have from this angle... but I am sure you have a TVIS engine, and if it hasn't been taken apart, or opened up before, it is likely to have 10 to 1 pistons instead of 9.4 to 1. I'm making that guess based on the T/B vacuum connections, and your engines lack of other vacuum parts.

Big port head and if its 3 or 7 ribs doesn't really matter there is a 99% chance you have a 40mm crank with 18 mm piston pins. There is a not a valve cover that changes that ![]() Cars: "99 Lexus IS200 "86 AE86 Kouki Panda Levin GT-Apex (restore project) "84 AE86 Zenki Blue Levin (project racer) Motorcycles: "02 Yamaha R1 "02 Honda Hornet S "08 BMW R1200GS |

Note the oil drain to the rear of the head.
This indicates late model block. Likely high comp pistons, 7rib, 42mm crank. ![]() No oil drain (low comp block, likely 3rib, 40mm crank) ![]() Note that there are many intermediate versions. 7rib low comp blocks etc. Lots of info here. Oil drain is easiest to see to determine block type. http://www.club4ag.com/faq_and_tech_page...0Block.htm http://www.skynet.ie/~eireae86 |
