Did you use a relay for the lights or you give them power directly from the switch ?

Wires getting hot!
Maybe some wire is half cut. The resistance gets high and more heat is generated...

Wires getting hot!
Wires get hot because there is more current (amps) flowing in the
circuit than the wire was designed to carry. Adding extra load (lights wired in parallel) or changing to higher Wattage bulbs could do it. A short circuit will do it also... if the track to earth doesn't draw enough current to blow the fuses. You should disconnect that lighting circuit until you can find and fix the fault. Otherwise, make sure your insurance is up to date, and carry a fire extinguisher Cheers... jondee86 The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. No. A bad ground causes high resistance and less current in the
wires. But it can cause locallised heating at the point of high resistance... that is, at the faulty connection.
