supercharger restrictor
Somewhere in the future oldtimers(0 plates) in belgium will be given more rights for driving on the road but with more restrictions.
One of them is that the engine output can not be more than 40% extra power. 4AGE original 91 kw 4AGZE original +- 125 kw just within the 40% the engine i am currently building will have higher cr and same boost with a 3gse tb and 4AGE tvis inlet. So certainly over the 40%. I was thinking of using a restrictor in some way like they do in the rally with turbo's.Will only be used on the road and inspection, not in performance situations. do you think it would be possible and harmless to drive? |

You might be able to adapt different size driven pulleys(maybe from A/C systems?) to lower S/C peak boost.....??????? Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! Try and contact Kraftwerks. They used restrictors on some of their Rotrex kits to keep power down on the basic non intercooled stuff.
Most of the choking on rallye engines was done using boost control and variable valve timing. The restrictor never really comes into play. What you could try is to buy some adjustable cam wheels and see if you can drop some power at higher revs. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

thanks for the tips i sent them a mail.
the restrictor im looking for is one that can be easly installed and removed. for example on the road i drive with the restrictor and then on circuit or events i remove it. i have found something like a restrictor plate but info is slim |

stamping out a restrictor plate is the easiest thing ever, it just a smaller diameter whole you put in the air path. what size to go for would be trial and error or lot's of calculating. regarding damage, it will run on the rich side as you basically starve it's air supply. IS the 4AGZE AFM or MAP controlled? It can be assumed that the AFM will compensate more accurately than the MAP but they both will be out once you get into the high revs. At low to mid revs the restrictor will not do any kind of harm.

its map since its ae101.
so at high revs it could harm the engine then? will i need a fuel regulator then?(this is new for me ) since i will and will not use the restrcitor i basicly will need to builds? i will have an afr and egr meter to check. |

well if it's mapped without restrictor, it will run rich in high rpms when you run with the restrictor.
if you map it with the restrictor, it will run lean in high rpms when you run without. So you better map it without the restrictor or just map for both options, lots of standalones offer 2 mpas to be saved and switched when necessary. if you run OEM ECU from the 4AGZE I'm not sure, as I don't know it very well and have no idea how good or bad it will adjust to the higher CR and the other mods. The basic statement above remains the same though. AE86 ex-daily |

why not just add a switch to manually (electrically) disable the SC clutch?
