Ta60 carina steering upgrade?

The car is hard to drive because of the steering having a life of its own with 15inch 195 tires

Is yours a wagon?

Get a rack and pinion setup from another Carina(AA60 etc), Celica (AA60 etc), or Corona (ST141 etc).

and then you'll have way better steering, it will bolt staight in but you probably need to change steering columns too which is a bit of a mish.

I was thinking of taking the daihatsu charmant steering which is like the ae86 /ae71

Thats the first worm & roller TA60 I`ve seen.
Get a TA60 crossmember with rack & pinion+inner and outer tie rods as well as steering column, and simply swap it all in
If you want more steering lock (and this will work with your current worm & roller steering), get AE86 P/S steering arms also.

This doesnt work, the bolt hole centres are different.

The shortest arms you can get that fit are from a PS corona/carina/celica.

Which are popular because they also fit into Cressidas, celica supra, etc.

And where do i find these parts?
There is like 5 ta60 on the rode in sweden!!!
Also want to do a coilover conversion eventually
But that seems to also be a hard thing

Come to Norway, we have a few in scrapyards and so forth, you can probs pick everything for a "tusenlapp"
Same as any other car, check facebook, forums etc get to know people, same as with AE86`s etc you wont get much done sticking to local sources

For coilovers anything AE86 will fit, I recommend AE86 coilovers with AE86 hubs, brakes etc.
Another solution is to cut off your shock tubes and leave 20-30mm and weld on brackets for Golf struts (scrapyard) and get some cheapo Golf coilovers.

The Carina was sold in large quantities in Finland, so you can also try your luck there.

I actually have a scrapped TA60 at hand but I`m gonna use the rack in my TA40.
But they are up and around here and there on different facebook pages etc, so I`ll keep my eyes open for parts cars, if any pop up I can ask what they want for column+rack+crossmember.
