OIL:)
tnx guys!
Ryo: about 10w60 im not too sure. its fully sintetic and the gap is really big (so a lot of syntetic stuff). Klaus (mo-racing) wrote about his findings when talking too an oil-guy. Quote:in my lucky position at work i sometimes get the chance to speak to engineers of different companys. after a conversion with a guy from shell i had this opinion on oils. i have found simmilar oppinions on some other forums... so choose accordingly. i think something like 10w40 is best for daily drives, for track you can use something more heat resistant xx-50 or maybe even xx-60 still trying to keep the range down. considering brands, it really doesnt matter that much. just look for mark wich says 10w-40 (or whatever you decide to buy) and choose the cheapest. =) watching a Best Motoring show the other day (type-r special) featuring Mr. Ichishima, the head of Spoon Sports. He said: Oil is not whisky, just get the propper standard, regardless to the brand. =) talking to a guy who races in our national cup (rally). he also said that it really doesnt matter what brand you get. to proove that he showed me the oil he uses. it was a 15w40 xy-no-name-brand oil, which he got for a quarter of a price you would usually pay for a "brand oil". its more important to keep the changes regular and oil fresh, than using a fully sint oil for longer period of time. btw, the only oil that made a difference between all is Motul if you can afford it. is supposedly has some additives that make a difference. |

Ryo Wrote:Valvoline is making some interesting oil for engine he cost twice like DuraBlend 10w40 and his name is VR1 Racing 10w60 should i try Avoid using racing oils for everyday driving - some of them missed any washing/clearing agents !!! This is not problem for racing engines. The reason to use non-GL5 oil in gear box is to avoid some sulfuric compounds because there is a risk of synchro damage - all non-iron and non-steel parts can be damaged and worn (ironically - these sulfuric additives make the GL5 so good for all-steel rear ends). PS: My Motul dealer says that for AE86 gears I can use Motul GL4/GL5 gear oil - after look-up in the Motul papers and tables. I choose GL5 synth Motul. |

Hi all,
I prefer Motul 90PA for the LSD. Redline MT90 is the finest oil for the transmission. Shifts the nicest of all the oils I've tried. |

I don't know Midland well - so I will choose quality product from well known manufacturer - Mobil, Motul, Castrol, Amsoil, Redline (for example).

OIL:)
Hello all,
I read complete article -> everyone is using different oil ![]() Is somebody using: Castrol RS 10w60, or Mobil 5w50 / 0w40? Mobil 1 Protection Formula 0W40 (full synth - pdf) http://www.autokreso.hr/pix_pub/upload/p..._OW_40.pdf When I buy ae86, my mechanic put inside 0w40... Oil pressure on idle was on middle (warm engine) Currently I'm running on Mobil-S 10w40 (semi synth), oil pressure is little a bit lower than middle (warm engine)... Any recommendations, to get back od 0w40, or to try another? 1997 EG2 vti 1986 AE86 levin coupe 1984 AE86 levin coupe ![]() |
